Addendum for the last post...

Apparently no less than 2 of said spread eagles were also bald eagles. The details of this statement are left as an exercise for the reader...

Kayaking Trip Aftermath

The trip was fun, and I wasn't injured in a horrible accident involving an Igloo cooler and a double sided oar, so that was good. The physical and/or emotional injuries were minimal, which is also good. There was a couple of scrapes, and a little tipping over, but on the whole, we did pretty well.

Hopefully everyone involved wasn't too sore when Sunday morning rolled around. I was actually quite well, but I didn't really expect to be sore in the first place. I had been working out harder over the last 3-4 weeks to prepare, so I didn't have so much as a single sore muscle.

Bottom line, the kayaking experience was nice, as was nature and the scenery. All in all, I saw 2 bald eagles and 7 spread eagles that day. Needless to say, the bald eagles were much more majestic.

HAHAs n' stuff

Insanely funny guitar instructional videos:

Part #1
Part #2
Part #3
Part #4

...and you don't even have to be a guitar player to find humor in those! :)

So I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs, searching for the end of the internet, and waiting for the inevitable "we need this by close of business" email/phone call crisis situation, because I know it's coming. The calm right now is just a teaser. I'm the only one crazy enough to find humor in this facade, that's why they picked me.

In other news, I'm going to have to learn to time travel to get everything done that needs to be done before the end of the week. I'm already out of time for days that haven't even come yet.

*Thumb twiddling continues*

Arrrr Matey!

I've been lousy at updating this blog, I have no excuses except lack of time and effort...so here goes...

Kayaking trip is coming up pretty soon, which should be really fun. I'm considering wearing a pirate hat and flying a skull and crossbones flag, but I'm afraid that won't inspire fear in anyone, especially since a kayak bears little resemblence to, say, a schooner. Maybe that's too grandiose an idea, I should just focus on the simple things, like getting 21 people there on (something that vaguely resembles) time. Since the opinion in this group varies greatly on what is considered "on time", this should be challenging enough.

I plan on taking a camera on the trip, pictures will certainly be posted afterwards...that is, if I don't lose my arms in a horrible kayak accident involving a Igloo cooler and a double sided oar. I'll hope for the best.

To recap the high points of the last few weeks:
1) Work has been, well, frantic, for lack of a better word. We were in a situation where our ability to solve a particularly difficult problem had a direct bearing on whether we flew our guys out to start implementation. By our powers combined, we prevailed, and they are implementing right now. That's why we come back here.

2) Mike's birthday was fun, or rather, it was fun to watch him get completely blasted. Watching him weave from point A to point B was rather amusing, they don't make a pathfinding algorithm that quite describes it. Watching drunk Twister was amusing as well...I can't play that game sober, so I didn't participate. Perhaps the funniest part of the night was watching Birthday Boy take a backwards tumble through a closed & LOCKED door moments after shouting "CARPE DIEM!" The kicker? He NEVER touched the floor, which is quite a feat sober, but was absolutely awe-inspiring in the state he was in. The only casualties of the night was the door, a poker table, and the stock of liquor at the bar.

3) I bought a 19" LCD monitor for home. It rocks. That's all I will say.

Back to the fun...

Heading South

So I'm heading to the beach this weekend, which is cool, even though I'm not a beach fan. I can find plenty of other activities to take up my time that don't involve baking in the sun and extracting sand from places it shouldn't be. I will never get a sunburn because I'm a huge fan of the Lewis Black theory of using Crisco for sunscreen: "when you start to sizzle, you move your ass." It works. Trust me.

I will admit there is one event going on that I am mildly interested in: the Spring Billy Bowlegs Pirate Festival and Torchlight Parade. Read that again, I'm trying to render a mental image but my imagination isn't vivid enough.

Next week will involve a birthday party. Given our track record, one can only speculate as to what kind of story will come out of this one.
